Hi, I’m Ben Campbell. I’m a father, husband, and aspiring renaissance man. I’ve been known at different times as a yoga teacher, rowing coach, marathoner, CrossFitter, and soccer coach. I’ve held jobs ranging from chef, to documentarian, to product manager, to instructional designer, to head of solutions engineering at an edtech company. I have a bachelor’s degree in Film, and a Master’s degree in education from the University of Florida.
My quest to find the perfect chair for daylong desk work started when I broke my back on a bike in 2001. I went over my handlebars and my perspective was forever changed.
While learning how to walk and do normal things again, I realized how important having a strong and functional core is to literally everything we do. I couldn’t sit down for about 6 months and became obsessed with sitting. We always want what we can’t have.
I’ve been on a mission to sit better, ever since. I’ve owned dozens of different types of chairs and obsess over their design and construction. I believe our notion of what constitutes a good chair should be questioned. And if we want our minds to be more active, our bodies should do the same.
